Gold Krugerrand
Gold Krugerrand coins were the first South African Bullion Gold Coins released in the precious metals market. Manufactured by the South African Mint, one of the oldest mints in the world, these 2017 1oz Gold Krugerrand coins are also crafted from 22 karat gold, like its predecessors, which have a purity of .9167 gold.
Interestingly, they were first introduced in the year 1967, and by 1980, captured 90% of the bullion market. Although these coins have no face value, their value stems from the precious gold used to mint this coin. This 2017 release celebrates the 50th anniversary of this world-renowned Gold Krugerrand Coin.
The South African Mint is the official mint of the Republic of South Africa and manufactures coins on behalf of the South African Reserve Bank.

Silver Krugerrand (PU)
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic series, the South African Mint has released the first-ever Silver Krugerrand. Total Mintage of 1,000, 000 and fineness of 99.9. 2017 heralds a new era for the Krugerrand, and this Silver Krugerrand with a 50 Year Privy Mark will make a great addition to any precious metals collection. Each Gem Premium Uncirculated Silver Krugerrand Coin will come in an air-tite capsule as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.
These South African legal tender Krugerrands come in a condition well beyond anything seen before for a Mint State bullion coin; so much so that the South African Mint is considering these to be Gem Premium Uncirculated. This is due not only to the quality of the silver being used for each Krugerrand, but also to the South African Mint’s state-of-the-art laser etching technology that further enhance the design of each coin, providing a degree of detail that was unimaginable 50 years ago. It all results in Silver Krugerrands that have a gorgeous mint luster and distinct engraving, making this initial release all the more special.
The American Silver Eagle
The American Silver Eagle is the official bullion coin of the United States and is minted by the US Mint. Dating back to 1986, it is 99.9% fine silver and is only struck in the 1 troy ounce size. The Silver American Eagle is legal tender and has a face value of $1 independent of the silver content.
The Silver Eagle is an iconic design that is recognized around the world. The Walking Liberty obverse was created by Adolph Weinman for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar that was used as early as 1916. The text boldly states "Liberty" and "In God We Trust" along with the year of issue. The Silver Eagle receives its moniker due to the reverse, as it includes an eagle with wings lifted high and 13 stars representing the 13 original states. The text includes "United States of America", "1 oz Fine Silver ~ One Dollar", and "E Pluribus Unum". This design continues to be used through the current year.
Canadian Silver Maple Leaf
The Silver Maple Leaf coin was launched in 1988 by the Royal Canadian Mint, over a decade after the first Gold Maple Leaf Coins were launched. In fact, the immense popularity of the Gold Maple Leaf Coins prompted the RCM to launch a silver variant as well. Each of these particular Canadian Silver Maple Leafs contains 1 ounce of 0.9999 pure silver. As the Canadian Government recognizes them as legal tender, they carry $5 (CAD) face values as well. However, the coin’s face value is merely symbolic because it is much lower in value compared to the value of the pure silver used to strike this coin.
The reverses of these coins display the incredibly detailed maple leaf design that gives these coins their name. Under the big maple leaf, a tiny textured maple leaf is barely visible. This is a security measure from the Royal Canadian Mint. In fact, when you magnify this tiny leaf, you can see two digits denoting the coin’s year of issue – ‘18’ in this case.
